Information and Reviews

Take a trip back in time to the 1950’s with Today’s Flutter, $5 gets you $10 worth of diner food and drinks at the one and only Long’s Drug Store lunch counter located at 4604 Kingston Pike.

It’s no secret that Long’s Drug Store, an absolute icon in the Bearden area, deserves kudos for keeping the family tradition alive since 1956.  That’s 57 years of filling prescriptions and serving up their famous grub for hungry Knoxvillians.

A quick study of the menu reveals classic lunch-counter fare, a repertoire very similar to the grilled and deep-fried offerings of many a country market.  The breakfast lineup is straightforward with selections of eggs, cereal, French toast and pancakes.  On Saturdays, you can order biscuits and gravy.  For lunch, burgers are available in several varieties, or you can choose from sandwiches including patty melts, grilled cheese, chopped steak, BLT, club, pimento cheese and tuna salad.  Salads, soups and sides complete the picture.  They even have an old-fashioned soda fountain the kids will love!  If you go for lunch or dinner, don’t forget to top it all off with an honest to goodness milkshake.

There is nothing that brings back the memories of old-fashioned lunch counters like Long’s….and probably one of the few remaining lunch/fountain counters in this area!  These fountains are a dying breed but their outstanding service goes beyond the lunch counter; they will still deliver your prescriptions at no charge.  Can’t beat that!  “Meet me at Long’s!”
